Northwest Elementary School Holds Literary Character Day

Students in Amityville's Northwest Elementary School brought the characters in their favorite books to life when they dressed the part during the school's Literary Character Day. As an educational alternative to traditional Halloween garb, Northwest students came to school dressed as characters from their favorite stories or nursery rhymes with books in hand. During the course of the day, students participated in shared reading groups, and listened to guest readers, including Interim Su- perintendent of Schools Dr. John R. Williams, and Northwest Elementary School Principal Stacey Fischer, also known as "Little Bo Peep" for the day. Shown in the photo, are Amityville Public School District Interim Superintendent Dr. John Williams , far left, and Northwest Elementary School Principal Stacey Fischer with a group of students who dressed as their favorite book character, then shared their stories with their peers.
