Captree Power Squadron to offer Boating safety classes beginning March

Captree Power Squadron (part of the nationwide non-profit organization United States Power Squadrons) will be conducting boating safety classes. These classes all include the necessary New York State P.W.C. certification now required of Personal Water Craft (Jet-Ski) operators of all ages. Also included are N.Y. State and Federal Regulations, Rules of the Road on the water, requried safety equipment and navigation instruction. All the courses, upon completion, may also qualify you for reduced marine liability insurance rates. To register for these classes simply attend the first session as listed below. Classes are one night per week.

•March 12, Lindenhurst, William Rall Elemtnary School, 761 North Wellwood Ave., five weeks on Wednesdays.

•April 7, Babylon Town Hall Annex, Phelps Lane, North Babylon for eight weeks on Mondays.

•April 8, Howitt Middle School, Van Cott Avenue, Farmingdale for five weeks on Tuesdays.

•April 8, Howitt Middle School, Van Cott Avenue, Farmingdalem New York State Young Boaters Course for ages 10 to 18. Runs six weeks on Tuesdays.

•April 16, Lindenhurst, William Rall Elementary School, 761 N. Wellwood Ave. for five weeks on Wednesdays.

•April 22, Copiague Library, 50 Deauville Blvd., for five weeks on Tuesdays.

•April 29, Babylon Town Hall Annex, Phelps Lane, North Babylon for five weeks on Tuesdays.

All classes run 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. except Farmingdale which runs, 7 to 9 p.m. A nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of books and materials. The NYS class is free. For inforamtion, call 631-789-5838 or 631-242-6117.
