Amityville Artists Circle to host Internet talk Looking for information on creating a domain name? Need help finding websites that suit your needs? Want to know more about social networking and time lines? Join the Amityville Artists Circle (AAC) members for a talk by Tom McDermott on Sat., Feb. 23, 10:30 am, at the First United Methodist Church, 25 Broadway, Amityville. McDermott, who has taught computer classes at Suffolk Community College and BOCES, promises an enlightening program that will take much of the anxiety out of "What do I do now that I've turned on the computer?" The second part of the program is an art critique. It's an opportunity to get feedback on your work from fellow artists. If you think that latest creation is ready for the dumpster, you may be pleasantly surprised at what others have to say about it. A municipal parking lot is directly across from the church. Admission is free and coffee and donuts will be served.
You don't have to be Internet savvy to log on to www.amityvilleartistscircle.org and learn more about Amityville's thriving art group that opened Circle Gallery in September of 2007. Located at 186 Broadway, next to Vittorio's Restaurant, the gallery is no longer Amityville's best kept secret. Vibrant paintings and sculptures continue to attract the attention of the community, and art and cultural programs are regularly scheduled. In May and June, artwork from the students of Amityville High School and St. Martin of Tours will be on display. Currently, a poetry contest sponsored by the AAC is underway. Check the website for an entry form.
