Bethel Church hosts 21st Annual MLK Jr. Birthday Celebration The Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and vicinity (MANA) held its 21st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration at the historic Bethel AME Church in Copiague. The Reverend Dr. Eugene McAshan was the keynote speaker. Dr. McAshan, the Pastor of Bethel AME for more than 11 years, will be retiring from the Pastorate in May 2008.
One of the highlights of this celebration was the installation of the newly elected officers of MANA. This installation was conducted by the Honorable Jacqueline Gordon, Town of Babylon Councilwoman. The new president of MANA is Pastor Roy S. Kirton, Senior Pastor of the Circle of Love Ministry Worldwide. As a part of his initial duties, Pastor Kirton presented plaques of appreciation to the former officers of MANA. Other newly elected officers are Reverend Dr. David Robinson, Pastor of Shaw Temple AME Zion Church in Copiague, as first vice president; Reverend Dr. Patricia Rickenbacker, Pastor of Living Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Massapequa, as second vice president ; Elder Medford Brown of Bethesda Seventh Day Adventist Church in Amitytville as treasurer; Minister Charlene Aiken-Coward of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Amityville as secretary; Minister Betty Watson of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Amityville as chaplain; Minister Noreen David of Living Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Massapequa as assistant chaplain and Bishop Andy C. Lewter of Holywood Baptist Cathedral in Amityville as parliamentarian.
