Christine Murdock at 58, former ASB Member

Former Amityville resident Christine C. Murdock died after an illness on Jan. 20, 2008 at her home in The Villages, Florida. She was 58 years old.

She was born June 17, 1949 in Connecticut to Robert and Margaret (Stephenson) Cullen. For more than 30 years, she lived on Richmond Avenue in Amityville until she moved to Florida in 2003. During the 1980s, she was an Amityville School Board member and a member of the district's finance committee.

In addition to caring for her family, she worked as an accountant, most recently at Mulberry Oriental Medicine of The Villages, Florida.

Mrs. Murdock leaves behind her children: Meredith Cheshire and her husband Christopher of Fruitland, Florida and Daniel P. of Amityville; her grandchildren: Cullen Cheshire and Bayley Murdock; her brother Robert Cullen; her close friends: Bernadette Martens and Chris Kostanoski, and her extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter J. in February of 2002.

A Prayer Service was conducted at the Powell Funeral Home, Broadway, Amityville on Jan. 25, 2008 led by Deacon Richard Ferri of St. Martin's R.C. Church. Rev. Father Richard T. Stelter, pastor of St. Martin's, officiated at a Mass of Christian Burial assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family Jan. 26, 2008. A private cremation followed.
