U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers young boaters course

A Young Boaters Course will be offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 01-04, Lindenhurst, Great South Bay, Fire Island Station. The course will be held Thursdays, March 6, 13 and 27 and April 3, 7 to 9 p.m. at the William Rall Elementary School, 761 North Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst. The fee is $25 and available for children ages 10 to 17. Advance registration is recommended and can be done by contacting the instructor online at Captdawne@aol.com

The course prepares young people for the responsibility of safe boating. Upon the successful completion of the course, graduates are given Wallet Cards which are accepted in lieu of NYS Boating License for the operation of Personal Watercraft and Powerboats. All classes are taught by instructors with years of teaching experience and are members of the Lindenhurst USCG Auxiliary.
