Copiague recognizes its Board of Education

At a special ceremony held prior to the October 15 Copiague Board of Education meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Bolton, with help from select members of the Middle School Chamber Choir, acknowledged the members of the Board of Education for their hard work and commitment to the District.

"As volunteer members of the Board of Education, they receive nothing," stated Dr. Bolton. "They receive nothing but the joy and sense in knowing they've made a difference in a child's life."

The evening began with the Chamber Choir, under the direction of Gina Occhiogrosso, entertaining the Board and audience with three musical selections including Seed to Sow , May it Be from Lord of the Rings, and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins.

Following the musical presentation, representatives from COPTA, the PTA Council, Copiague Association of Principals, Copiague Association of Supervisors, the Copiague Clerical Unit, Teachers Assistants Union, and a representative for the Cafeteria, Security, and School Monitors workers expressed their appreciation to the Board for making the students and education their number one priority.

"You've supported the children, you've supported the employees," said Lynn Lyons-Atlas, co-President of COPTA. "We are blessed to have you supporting us. Thank you for all that you do."

After everything was said and done, Board of Education President Brian J. Sales said, "We couldn't do this without you. It is truly a team effort."

Shown in the photo, members of the Copiague Middle School Chamber Choir performed "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins for the Board of Education during Board Appreciation Night.
