Amityville resident, James Russell, wins college football awards

Senior James Russell, of Amityville and a graduate of Amityville Memorial High School, a member of the Gettysburg College football team in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, has added to his list of postseason awards. He has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Southwest Region All-Star Team, as announced recently.

Russell, a left tackle, collected his third postseason award after gaining D3football.com Second Team All-Region honors and First Team All- Centennial Conference recognition. He helped block for an offense that led the conference in several categories and finished among the best in Division III.

A two-year starter, Russell also made some noise on the scoreboard this fall, rushing for his second career touchdown in the team's regular season finale against Franklin & Marshall College on Nov. 10.
