Eagle pride soars to the middle school

Shown in the photo, members of the Copiague Middle School and Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School Field Hockey teams recently took a field trip to witness the Hofstra University Field Hockey team take on Columbia University.
This year, for the first time in Copiague history, the Copiague Middle School is offering a competitive field hockey team for seventh and eighth-grade girls.

"In all the years of Copiague, we never had a "feeder" program for the high school team," stated middle school coach Kenneth Berry. "Now that we have a "feeder" team, our Varsity program at the high school will benefit for years to come."

The team currently has 17 players, eight eighth graders and nine seventh graders, and three captains, Dana Randazzo, Jackie Clemens, and Kristina Freitag.

To help solidify the bond between the middle school and high school field hockey programs, head coaches Ken Berry and Patricia Stein brought the two teams to Hofstra University, where they witnessed the Hofstra field hockey team take on Columbia University.
