Amityville School Board of honored for service

Members of the Amityville Board of Education were guests of honor at their own October meeting when Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Williams brought together the Amityville Memorial High School Jazz Ensemble to represent the students of the district by paying tribute to the Board, who gives tirelessly of their time to help district students achieve success.

"October is Board Recognition month, and we felt it was important to make the connection between our students and the Board, and bring to the forefront the hard work the Amityville Board of Education does on behalf of our students," stated Dr. Williams.

The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of music teacher Chris LaMarca, took the stage and provided a brief musical interlude for Board members to enjoy. "In gratitude for all the support the Board of Education gives the music department and all of Amityville's students, we wanted to come here to perform for you tonight," stated LaMarca.

After their performance, students presented the appreciative Board members with certificates of appreciation for all they do.

"It's wonderful to see the students and their accomplishments," stated Board President Michelle Sikrangkur. "It makes all the effort worthwhile."
