Amityville Soccer

2008-11-05 / Schools/Sports

The Amityville Stingrays' (SSI Girls U 14) 2008 steamroll continued on October 26th with a dominant 5-0 victory over the Longwood Lady Panthers. The Stingrays and their longtime keeper Caroline Tofalli notched their third straight shutout and have not allowed a goal in seven consecutive halfs. Katie Lauducina and Stingrays' rookie Diana Rispoli scored their first ever goals and Paige O'Neil registered a hat trick with three of her own. Delaney Carman was a force in sweeper and Victoria LaMarr played inspired, fast paced, gritty soccer.

Down at the beach it was another rumble in the U7 division as the Hurricanes and Rockets clashed by the bay. For the Rockets Joe Crema was all over the field from his half back position, breaking up several rushes and applying constant pressure on the goalie. In net Sean Casey was the bouncer, turning away shot after shot, diving in all directions, and earning the Rockets their first shut out of the year. For the Hurricanes, Maggie McCaffrey was an offensive machine, weaving in and out of defenders and taking several shots on goal. Sam Taylor had a strong game on defense and showed a strong boot kicking the ball out of his zone. Tara Langford showed a strong motor pursuing the ball relentlessly all over the field. When the smoke cleared everyone shook hands and left it all on the field, a little older and a little wiser.
