Longtime Amityville area resident Bobby R. Owens, Jr. , died on Sept. 30, 2008 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. He was 49.

He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Sept. 8, 1959 to Bobby R., Sr. and Flora (nee Wilkins), he moved to Brooklyn when he was five. At nine, they moved to Amityville and he graduated from Copiague High School where he played football, basketball and saxophone.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens leaves behind his children: Tanisha, Danielle and Shaquille; two grandchildren; his sisters, Bardeana, Barnequa, Tatiana, April and Alicia; his brothersin laws, Brian Muldow, Robert Roberts and Sadiki Anderson, and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Rev. John Jackson, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, officiated at the Funeral Service at the church followed by interment in Amityville Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Amityville.
