2008-10-29 / Events & Calendar

The 75th anniversary celebration of the Narrasketuck Yacht Club was held on Sept. 27 at the Club. "The "Club Narrasketuck" theme of speakeasy was to remember the era of the 1930s. Forty yacht club members attended.

The party was staged by Kay Baker, 75th anniversary chairwoman and Marilyn David Brous, club historian. Guests were encouraged to wear 1930s clothes. The salute to the founders and principles of the Club was toasted with a gin martini. As guests entered, they signed the guest log which contains the signatures of those who attended the 50th anniversary dinner.

Two games were played. Name That Tune, using songs of the thirties and twenties, was played to promote fun and reminiscences. On the Bay was played by racing small sailboats on a large felt board. Prizes were won.

In addition to the cocktail hour, a buffet dinner was served followed by the anniversary cake and other assorted desserts.
