Beatrix Jackson graduates from NYU
On May 14, Amityville resident Beatrix V. Jackson graduated with honors from New York University's (NYU) Gallatin School of individualized studies with a bachelor of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. During her tenure at NYU, she was a track and field team member and during her senior year she was captain of the women's track team. Jackson, along with 35 student-athletes, was honored with the NYU Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award. To earn the award, a student must be graduating with a grade point average of 3.3 (B-plus) or better and have competed a minimum of two years on an intercollegiate team. Jackson is currently in training for the Teach for America program at Georgia Technical Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. This fall, she will be teaching mathematics for middle school students in Charlotte, North Carolina while attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina for her master's degree in education. |
