Amityville Fire Department readies for tropical storm Hanna
The Amityville Fire Department set up standby crews on Sat., Sept. 6, prepared for tropical Storm Hanna. The Department started the standby at noon, and crews were dismissed 10 that night. No major incidents occurred during the storm. The volunteers are shown in the photo. Asst. Chiefs Russell Sawyer, Charlie Scudlo and Robert Waegerle were in charge. More...

Longtime Copiague resident and loving mother Anna Nuzzi died on Sept. 17, 2008. She was 87 years old. Born Anna Villone in Franklin Square, she moved to Trouville Road in Copiague in 1950 and devoted her life to caring for her husband, family and home. She lived there for 58 years. More...
