The Town of Babylon has partnered with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and Breslin Realty to provide 60,000 complimentary Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL's), as the latest phase of the Town's 12x12 initiative. Every residence in the Town of Babylon will receive a free CFL and a coupon for the discounted purchase of additional CFL's at Wal-Mart's Farmingdale store, located at 965 Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale. Supervisor Steve Bellone kicked off the program by personally delivering the sustainability package to Lindenhurst resident Monica Lynch. The S.C. Legislature is reviewing locations for a new office for newly elected S.C. Leg. DuWayne Gregory. Gregory said that he and his staff have been out looking for new office space and are also making recommendations to the committee, which will make the final decision. Currently, the offices for Gregory, who represents the 15th L.D., are on Albany Avenue in Amityville. More...

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Conor Boyle, of Amityville. Conor joined Troop 690 in Seaford while attending St. William the Abbot School there. He credits much of his success in attaining the rank of Eagle to his Troop's Scoutmaster, Larry Bamberger. More...

Anthony S. Ambrosino, a 53-year resident of Amityville, died Aug. 12, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 80. Anthony was born on March 2, 1928 in Ozone Park to Antonio and Jenny (Minichino) Ambrosino. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II from 1946 to 1947. More...
