The Amityville Artist's Circle will be holding an opening reception for a new exhibition, Summer's End, Sat., Aug. 16, noon to 4 p.m. at the Gallery, 186 Broadway, Amityville. The exhibition will run through Oct. 19. The Gallery is open Wed., Thurs., and Friday, noon to 4 p.m., and on Sat., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Among the items being exhibited is a giant squid by Harry Saarinen (aka: Steel Fish Harry). Harry is well known for his lifelike reproductions of fish made out of steel. The sculpture is a perfect replica of a squid; however, Harry has increased its size to 10-feet long and it weighs about 300 pounds. The effect is stunning.
