Photo by Joe Turner. The Amityville Village Third and Fourth of July cel­ebration was another huge success this year and helped to bring in hundreds of people to Amityville.

"This really offered us an opportunity to showcase our community," said Mayor Peter T. Imbert. "We didn't have a single incident and both days could not have gone better." Imbert praised the police department for their work and the Chamber of Commerce, which cosponsors the events. On July Third, there was music, food, rides and fun and youngsters seemed to take out their energies by challenging each other to a break-dancing contest.
