The Amityville Woman's Club, under the direction of Adele Munch, held its Philanthropies Luncheon April 9 at the Southward Ho Country Club. As the name suggests, the purpose of this luncheon is to raise money for worthwhile purposes. This is accomplished through raffles and sweepstakes prizes donated by the club members and local merchants.

This year some of the money was given to the local chapter of Special Olympics in the memory of Joannie Caramanico, the daughter of Mickey and Anita Caramanico. A second donation was given to help fight ovarian cancer in the memory of Claire Wilson, a Woman's Club member who died this past year.
