National Night Out is Aug. 5
The 25th annual National Night Out celebration at Bolden Mack Park, located at the corner of Great Neck Road and Carrol Street in Amityville will be held Tues., Aug. 5. At the park, neighborhood crime and drugs will have a going away party. On this day, a message is sent to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The day program runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and will include a bounce castle and slide for the children, Eddie the Tin Can Clown, face painting, Pak's Karate demonstration and more. New this year will be a health pavilion, a place to go to get health care information. Next to the health pavilion will be the finance pavilion with professionals from the banking and mortgage industries ready with information about all your financial needs.
At 7 p.m. the evening program of awards and messages from elected officials will be held. Ending the day's festivities, the North Amityville Fire Department will shine the ceremonial light to show the world the group is not afraid to give crime a going away party.
