National Night Out is Aug. 5

The 25th annual National Night Out celebration at Bolden Mack Park, located at the corner of Great Neck Road and Car­rol Street in Amityville will be held Tues., Aug. 5. At the park, neighborhood crime and drugs will have a going away party. On this day, a message is sent to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The day program runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and will include a bounce castle and slide for the children, Eddie the Tin Can Clown, face painting, Pak's Karate demonstration and more. New this year will be a health pavilion, a place to go to get health care information. Next to the health pavil­ion

will be the finance pavilion with professionals from the banking and mortgage industries ready with information about all your financial needs. At 7 p.m. the evening program of awards and messages from elected officials will be held. Ending the day's festiv­ities, the North Amityville Fire Department will shine the ceremonial light to show the world the group is not afraid to give crime a going away party.
