Former longtime Amityville resident and beloved family man Ronald Carpenter, Jr. died suddenly June 3, 2008 at his home in Bay Shore. He was 52 years old. He was born September 28, 1955 to Robert G. and Artensy (Brandon), was an Amityville High School graduate and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1978 to 1982. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of own­ing his own business by opening RC & DC Variety in Amityville which he ran for about a year. Mr. Carpenter leaves behind his wife Gail of Havelock, North Carolina; his daughters: Myisha, Laquan, Yaronda and Balessia; his grandchildren: Ariana, Alyvia, Jamie, Ajala, Michael, Jaden, Tay­lor and Deyana; his mother, Artensy; his brother, Robert; his bothers-in-laws: John, Percy and Wil­liam; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Rev. Thomas Tolliver, from In The Word Ministries in West Babylon, officiated at the funeral service in the Powell Funeral Home on June 6, 2008. Interment followed in Calverton National Cemetery with Military Honors.
