Two Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School seniors recently participated in the Senator for a Day program in Albany, New York. Students Kathryn Godlewski and Zaneta Wykowska traveled to the State capital to meet with Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Senator Owen Johnson, and other elected officials. In addition to touring the capitol, Kathryn and Zaneta learned about politics and received an "insider's view" of New York State government. The "Senators for a Day" even had a chance to sit in on a Senate session and observe government in action. Shown, left to right, are Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School senior Kathryn Godlewski, Principal Albert H. Voorneveld, and senior Zaneta Wykowska.
