Amity Library offering summer reading programs for everyone

2008-06-25 / Front Page

The Amityville Public Library blends new age technology with old fashioned reading in its Summer Reading Clubs for kids, teens and adults. Participants in the Summer Reading Clubs can earn prizes while they read, or listen to, the books of their choice. Kids and teen club participants can select whether they want to report in person or on-line. The on-line option can be used at home, summer camp or on vacation. Many schools require their students to read books over the summer. Why not report on those books while enjoying the programs and rewards of the Amityville Public Library Children's and Young Adult Reading Clubs. Adult participation is on-line from home, office or with special computer stations set up in the Library. In addition to the Reading Club, Library computer stations link participants to other interesting and fun sites. The Adult Summer Reading Club features books, blogs, discussions, programs and prizes. Bloggers can enjoy lively on-line book discussions from abroad or the comfort of their own home. Simply go to the Library's Homepage and click on Adult Summer Reading Club and then the On-line Book Discussion link and register. It's as easy as that! Bel Canto by Ann Patchett is the topic of the first discussion and will take place through July 21. Participation in some of these programs and services may be limited to Amityville Public Library card holders only. For further information on the Reading Clubs and programs visit the Library Homepage www.suffolk.lib.ny.us/libraries/amty/ or call us at (631) 264-0567. Catch the Reading Bug!
