Lee and Andrew D. Lee; his ex-wife, Karen McGreevey; and other family, and a brotherhood of firefighters. He was predeceased by his father, David N. and his brother, David N., Jr.

He reposed at the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville on May 25, 2008. Firematic and Funeral Services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amityville on May 27, 2008, officiated by pastor David W. Anglin. Members of the Amityville Fire Department served as pall bearers and the Fire Truck carried Mr. Smith to the church. A private cremation followed.
