Amityville Student Athletes
Honored at Awards Night
The Amityville School District’s athletic department hosted an awards ceremony to honor the athletes, and to distribute the Most Improved, MVP, and coveted Coaches Awards. At the secondary level, 125 student athletes met the academic requirements to participate in the district athletic program. Under the leadership of their coaches, administrators, teachers, and families, district athletes have reason to be proud of their accomplishments for the winter season, and as the spring season enters its final stretch, look for more accomplishments from Amityville's athletes:
•The varsity wrestling team has been recognized as being in the top 10 in the County, with Angel Mazara coming in First at the County level and qualifying for the States, and Reggie Robinson coming in second at the County level.
•The varsity girls track team came in fifth in their league and eighth in the County, with MVP Emily Blotiau placing third in Suffolk.
•The varsity boys track team took second place out of 38 school districts that participated in an upstate New York tournament, fourth place in Suffolk, and also earned the distinction of eighth fastest 4x4 relay team in the nation.
•The varsity boys basketball team made it to the playoffs this season, and set a school record in Suffolk County by giving up the least amount of three pointers for the season.
•The JV boys basketball team tied for second place in their league after an undefeated season.
