On March 29th, the Amityville School District honored Pollock, naming the new track after the man who says he was humbled and honored to have been recognized in this way.
"I am embarrassed whenever I am at the center of something, because I like putting other people out there," said Pollock. "I also have to say it is only because of a lot of other people that I was able to accomplish so much; I have had a lot of good coaches working with me such as Joe Valla, John Gonser, Jim Christian and now Reynolds Hawkins, and I have had a lot of good student-athletes and parents."
Pollock was born and raised in Amityville and graduated from Amityville Memorial High School in 1972. He lives in Amityville with is wife, the former Linda Hall, and the couple's four children: Danny, Kevin, Jason and Kelly.
Pollock is retired from the school district but continues to teach with the Educational Assistance Corporation. He also continues to coach in Amityville.

"I'd also like to thank my wife," he said. "Wives of coaches put up with a lot and she has really been great."
