This is National un-clutter week. For those who take these national directives seriously, it means it is time to go through those closets and cupboards and get rid of what you don't need. A good rule of thumb is that if you have not used it in the past year, you probably won't use it or need in the coming year, so put it in the pile that will go to the curb for the next garbage pick up.
It is also time to rearrange your furniture to make the rooms in your home seem larger and to provide for a free flow of space. Called for, also, is a search of the attic and basement where odds and ends that you didn't use, and won't use, pile up like kids waiting for the ice cream man. (We know you have every intention of using that exercise bike or tread mill, but let's stop kidding ourselves, okay.)
But don't stop there. Clear out your head as well. Get rid of hurt feelings, toss out old resentments and dispose of unresolved anger. Open the windows of your mind, and keep on the shelves only those positive attitudes that enable you to live a happy, healthy life. The rest should go to the curb as well.
