Carol Anderson, Amityville resident and Grumman employee

Carol Louise Anderson
Carol Louise Anderson, a longtime Amityville resident and Grumman retiree, died November 14, 2007. She was 79 years old.

Born in Harlem, New York to Alphonse Noel Siebenhoven and Louise Sophia Brewster in May 26, 1928, she moved to Amityville in 1955 with her family.

"She was a great mother and a really hard worker. She's loved very much," said her daughter Ellen Holliday.

For many years she worked for Caswell Massey, a perfume company that moved from Manhattan to Copiague. After that, she worked for Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage for 30 years as one of the first female expeditors. She retired in 1990.

A great lover of travel, she and her sisters started a large group of family and friends called "The Weekenders" who went to the Caribbean Islands and other locales together.

She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Copiague.

Ms. Anderson leaves behind her children: Ellen Holliday and Noel Short; her grandson: Leslie Anderson-Dove; her siblings: Grace Thomas, Pauline Fields and Roy Siebenhoven; her brother and sisters-inlaw, Russell Thomas, Loretta Siebenhoven; and a host of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Billie Holliday, her ex-husband, Leighton Anderson, and her son's father, Eugene Short.

A Funeral Mass was held on November 18, 2007 at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Copiague followed by private cremation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Joseph A. Slinger /Hasgill Funeral Service in Amityville.
