Virginia B. Morrell, Amityville school nurse secretary

Virginia B. Morrell, a 73-year resident of Amityville, died Nov. 21, 2007 at the home of her son William in Amityville. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Morrell was born on Aug. 21, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois to William W. and Gertrude (Wilson) Betsche. In addition to caring for her home and family, she was employed by the Amityville School District as a school nursesecretary. Mrs.Morrellwasaalongtime active member of the Amityville Women's Club and St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

Her husband of 55 years, F. Vincent Morrell, predeceased her in 1989. Survivors include her sons William C. of Amityville and Thomas P. Lee of New Hampshire, her granddaughters Melanie Ziegler and Kimberly Pitkin and her great-grandchildren Bryce, Cade, Cody, Ryan and Jerard J. (JJ"). She was also predeceased by her sister Barbara Zimmer.

The Reverend Randolph Jon Geminder, rector, St. Mary's conducted a prayer service at the Powell Funeral Home, 67 Broadway, Amityville Friday, Nov. 23, 2007. Father Geminder said a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Nov. 24 in St. Mary's Episcopal Church followed by interment in Amityville Cemetery.
