Esther Hafner of Amityville Harbor Longtime Amity Harbor resident Esther Hafner died November 12, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. The 88 year old had lived in Amity Harbor for 32 years and spent her life lovingly caring for her children, husband and home. Born April 8, 1919 to Casimiro and Cathrina (nee Maciokiute) Makarevicius in New Haven, Connecticut, she dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She leaves behind her children: Virginia, Frank F. and Richard; her grandchildren: Danielle Hamilton and Ryan. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Frank S. in August of 2007 and her grandson, Stephen Chase.
The Reverend Herbert Kern officiated at the funeral service in the Powell Funeral Home, 65 Broadway, Amityville, on November 15, 2007. Interment followed in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
