Free Christmas concerts to be held throughout December
      The Long Island Tres Dias Choir will be presenting free Christmas concerts in December. There will be a preview on Saturday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m. at St. William the Abbot Church, 2000 Jackson, Ave., Seaford. On Sunday, Dec. 9, a two-hour concert will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.

      The Amityville Beautification Society is holding its Annual Holiday Tree Decorating event Saturday December 8 at 10 a.m. on Oak Street, O' Conner Parking lot in front of the library parking lot. It is open to all youth groups aged 13 and under.

Berenice and Thomas Giordano celebrate their 60th anniversary
      Thomas and Berenice Giordano celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Florida recently. They purchased a home in the Rose Ile section of Orlando on Lake Estelle. Thomas is a major league scout for the Texas Rangers and was recently named East Coast Scout of the Year.

St. Martin of Tours third graders write essays to celebrate veterans
      The third grade at St. Martin of Tours school in Amityville, entered the "Celebrating Our Veterans" essay contest. The Town of Babylon, in conjunction with the Veterans' Advisory Council, set up the contest. The third grade teachers offered this to their students as an extra-credit assignment.

Food Addicts Anonymous celebrates 20th anniversary
      It was 20 years ago on December 7, 1987 that the first Food Addicts Anonymous (FAA) meeting was held in West Palm Beach, Florida. Judith C., the founder had spent a lifetime trying diet after diet to deal with her food issues and time after time she failed.

      The Amityville Artists' Circle Gallery opens its door to its first craft classes for pre-teens on Saturday, Dec. 8. Babylon Town for Toys for Tots
      Councilwoman Ellen McVeety announced that the Town of Babylon will participate again this year in the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. A collection box for the toys will be in the front lobby of Town Hall, 200 E. Sunrise Hwy., Linden-hurst, through Dec. 14.

St. Martin of Tours helps needy children
      Sixth grader Kelly Roache at St. Martin of Tours in Amityville is helping the needy children around the world. Kelly is getting all the students at the school to donate basic school supplies and/or a Healthy Kid Kit for AmeriCares. AmeriCares is a nonprofit international relief organization.
