BOCES sets meeting on upcoming capital improvement vote
      A proposal to replace a 36-year-old modular trailer at Western Suffolk BOCES will be the subject of a public meeting Wed., Dec. 5. The plan calls for using existing capital funds and will not cost taxpayers any additional money, if approved by the voters January 29.

Town of Babylon collecting for Toys for Tots
      Councilwoman Ellen McVeety announced that the Town of Babylon will participate again this year in the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. A collection box for the toys will be in the front lobby of Town Hall, 200 E. Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst, through Dec. 14.

Pearl Harbor Ceremony
      AMVETS Post 88 will host the Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony, to be held at Long Island National Veterans Cemetery at Pinelawn, Sunday, Dec. 2. Assembly is at 1:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 2 p.m. There is no fee and everyone is welcome to honor veterans at this ceremony.

      Col. Gilbert Potter Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution DAR) met for its fall meeting at the home of Regent Sue Shreve in Bay Shore. All officers and committee chairmen gave their reports. The guest speaker was Gerri Mac Whinnie, New York State and National Schools docent.

Police seek public's help in apprehending burglar
      Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a burglary at an occupied apartment in Copiague Nov. 15. The victim answered a knock at the door and was punched in the face by one suspect at 10:00 p.m.
