St. Martin's athletic program is strong

St. Martin of Tours school in Amityville is off to a busy start with Catholic Middle Schools Athletic Association. This year, the school has a cross country team and a girls and boys soccer team, consisting of athletes from the seventh and eighth grades.

Coaches for the cross country team are parents Leslie Sidor and Jane Schmitt. The co-ed team competes every week and takes part in regional meets against five or six other schools.

The team also competes in all meets with 11 other schools and approximately 125 athletes per race.

The team is small but strong. Matt Graham, an eighth grader, has come in first in every race.

Team members include Michael Mehary, Dylan Rosser, Matt Graham, Brittany Steele, Katrina Pastore, Sara Chadwick, Dana Dexter, Nick Anding, Stephen Sidor, Kate Schmitt, Meagan Joseph and Jovhan Egalite.

The Girls Soccer team , shown below, is coached by parents Dennis Siry, Andrea Norris and Lori Tofalli. Their record is 3-3. The Boys Soccer team is coached by parent Bill Schafer and when available, parent John Dull gives his time and knowledge to help the team out. The team is enjoying its first time together. The boys team consists of Mike Medwig, Ryan McCann, Michael Schafer, Spence Novick, Chris Camperlengo, Matt Burnett, John Siemer, Mitchell Dull, Bobby Antonellis, Randy Burnett, Stephen Sidor, Nicholas Williams, Gregory Brooks, Will Blackler, Kevin DeRudder, Tyler Cisek, James Fulford, Matthew Litvinoff, Bobby Kretz, Donnie Millang, Drew Schmitt, Matt Graham, Michael Mehary, Nick Anding, Dylan Rosser, Anthony Rosati and Diego Molina.
