St. Martin students experiment with magnetism

St. Martin of Tours school in Amityville is doing science experiments. Patricia Savish's third grade class is experimenting with magnetism. The children take 30 common mechanical objects like different types of screws and nails, sand paper, rocks, buttons... and they chart whether or not the items are magnetic. Later in the school year the students will test these same 30 objects to see if they conduct electricity. The students pictured are Kyra Gilmore, Joan Medwig, Trevor Quinn and Emily Nugent.
