John Battaglia: loved his Copiague neighborhood

Described as a wonderful person and family man, John Battaglia spent his time dancing with his wife and celebrating their life in Copiague. He was 78 years old when he died October 15, 2007.

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Ozone Park, Queens before moving to Copiague in 1994. Prior to his 1991 retirement, he worked in the Brooklyn Paint & Varnish Factory for many years.

"We loved living in Copiague and spending time in Tanner Park," said his wife of 51 years, Josephine who said they had made many friends in the area and had a wonderful life together.

In his spare time he loved to play pinochle and pool and spend time with his loved ones.

Mr. Battaglia leaves behind his wife, Josephine; his children: John of Copiague, Gary and his wife Ginny of Copiague and Josephine Pollaro and her husband Michael; his grandchildren: Christopher, Danielle and Nicole; and his sister, Mary Clementi of Massapequa.

He reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home, South Chapel, Massapequa Park, on October 17 & 18, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on October 19, 2007 at Our Lady of Assumption R.C. Church in Copiague. Interment followed in St. Charles Cemetery.
