Homola is 2007 LI Junior Golf Champion

Ryan Homola, a senior at Amityville Memorial High School (AMHS), is not only the 2007 MVP and captain of the AMHS golf team coached by Jaime Seubert, he is also the 2007 Long Island Junior Golf Champion. The tournament, sponsored by the Long Island Golf Association, began with a qualifying round at Bellport Country Club where Homola placed third. The high school senior went on to face the first and second place finishers later in the tournament to win the Long Island Junior Golf Championship. Homola received the 2007 Long Island Junior Golf Champion trophy, and will have his name engraved on the A.S. Bourne permanent trophy, which dates back to the 1920's.

Homola also represented New York State in the 39th Trusted Choice Big I Junior Classic, presented by The Tiger Woods Foundation, at the Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho this past summer. Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York sponsor the Big "I", one of

Homola was one of 167 players out of 4,000 junior golfers to qualify for the Classic. Former players include Tiger Woods, Phil Mikelson, and David Duval.

In 2006, Newsday recognized Homola with the distinction of "High School Athletic Feat of the Week." After a six-hole sudden-death playoff with four other golfers, he tied for the ninth and final spot. Homola's dramatic finish at the 36-hole State Championships at Cornell University earned him this prestigious honor, along with his lowest scoring average of 1.9 strokes.

This year, independent of high school play, Homola took a first place at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland in a regional tournament and second place at the 2007 National Championship on the Magnolia Course at Disney, Orlando, Florida.
