A program entitled Enjoying Life Through Poetry will be held Mondays, October 22 and 29, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Through reading and discussing selected poems, the group will focus on life's daily pleasures. The sessions will be led by Sister Therese Monaghan, Ed.D in communication arts.

•The Suffolk County Department of Health Services' Mobile Mammography Van will be at the Library, Thursday, October 18, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. women under 40 years of age must have a written referral from their primary care provider. Medicare, Medicaid, Suffolk Health Plan and Womens Health Partnership vouchers are accepted. HMOs and private insurance that does not pay out of network are not accepted. •The afternoon books discussion will cover the book Empire Falls by Richard Russo, Thursday, October 18, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

•The evening book discussion will cover Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, Tuesday, October 23, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

•The Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education will teach the importance of risk reduction and early detection skills, Wednesday, October 24, 7 to 8 p.m.
