Amity Artists Circle Gallery film festival October 18

Expect a starry, starry night with popcorn, liquid refreshments and laughs when the Amityville Artists' Circle Gallery opens its door to its first film festival on Thursday, October 18, at 7 p.m.

Amityville resident Billy Lozowski, professional photographer and collector of vintage films, offers two very different reels for viewing. A serious and scholarly documentary on the life and times of Vincent Van Gogh, Touch of Fame is narrated as passionately as the artist brushed his canvas. Its close-up views of Van Gogh's best work share his world of form and composition.

Lozowski will end the evening with a comedy film from his collection that includes the Three Stooges, Amos and Andy, and numerous other comedians. Come prepared to appreciate a good comedy routine that is an art form in itself.

The Circle Gallery is located at 186 Broadway, next to Vittorio's Restaurant, in Amityville. For more information on the Amityville Artists' Circle and future programs devoted to the arts and culture, contact Irene Greenhalgh at 631-598-2182.
