St. Martin's Seventh Grade visits Old Bethpage

St. Martin of Tours in Amityville's seventh grade visited Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Old Bethpage recreates the atmosphere of a pre- Civil War Long Island Village. Students took walks on the grounds and saw costumed interpreters portraying farmers, teachers, storekeepers, blacksmiths, civic leaders and others who made up a community of the mid 1800s. The students brought some questions from the classroom and had to look for the answers throughout the day. They saw many different farm animals, had a potato sack race and were entertained by several jugglers.
