A program entitled Enjoying Life Through Poetry will be held Mondays, October 12, 22 and 29, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Through reading and discussing selected poems, the group will focus on life's daily pleasures. The sessions will be led by Sister Therese Monaghan, Ed.D in communication arts.

•The Suffolk County Department of Health Services' Mobile Mammography Van will be at the Library, Thursday, October 18, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. women under 40 years of age must have a written referral from their primary care provider. Medicare, Medicaid, Suffolk Health Plan and Womens Health Partnership vouchers are accepted. HMOs and private insurance that does not pay out of network are not accepted. •The afternoon books discussion will cover the book Empire Falls by Richard Russo, Thursday, October 18, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

•The Amityville Public Library's children's department will be holding in-person registration for all its fall/winter children's programs as of Monday, October 1, 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. No phone registration will be accepted for the first week and programs are limited to only Amityville Public Library patrons.
