Husband, wife, Bill and Dorothea Ketcham, die
Born in Brooklyn to Ina Mae (Miller) and Charles H. Onderdonk, she was raised in Freeport. For more than 40 years she was an elementary school teacher, first at the Amityville Playschool, at the campus nursery at Farmingdale College and finally at Head Start in Chestertown, New York. She and her husband Bill lived on Homestead Avenue in Amityville for more than 30 years and were active in the Amityville Methodist Church. In 1976, they moved to Chestertown, New York, then Bendersville, Pennsylvania and finally to Bath, Pennsylvania. A memorial service was held August 25, 2007 at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church in Solebury, Pennsylvania. Interment to be held at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania. Donations in Mrs. Ketcham's name can be sent to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA.19106 or to the charity of your of your choice.
Native Amityville resident William "Bill" Ketcham, Jr. died September 5, 2007 in Bath, Pennsylvania. The 86 year old was an Amityville mail carrier for many years. Born and raised on Cedar Street in Amityville to Ruth (Chadwick) and William Marsh Ketcham, Sr., he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Air Station during World War II based in Cherry Point, North Carolina. He worked for Republican Aviation in production, experimental design and field modification and later at the Amityville Post Office until his retirement in 1976. In 1976 he and his wife, Dot, moved from their home on Homestead Avenue in Amityville, where they lived for more than 30 years, to Chestertown, New York, then Bendersville, Pennsylvania and finally to Bath, Pennsylvania. The Ketcham's leave behind their children: Douglas and his wife Susan of Pipersville, Pennsylvania, Sandee Molden and her husband Parker of Fairfield, Connecticut and Wendy Rasey and her husband Thomas of Allegany, New York; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren. A memorial service was held September 29, 2007 at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church in Solebury, Pennsylvania.
