The opening tea for the Mary P. Myton Literary Society was held at the Lauder Museum Wednesday, September 12, 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Susan Martinson, president, welcomed all members and guests and conducted a brief business meeting. Mrs. William Shave, book discussion leader, invited the members to report on the books that they had read over the summer. The books discussed were both interesting and informative. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Mr. William T. Lauder, director of the Lauder Museum and Amityville Village his- torian. His talk was about the Cornelius-Edwards Home located on South Ketcham Avenue, which is rich in history and he described the house in great detail and the people who lived there. At the conclusion of the meeting delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses of the day: Mrs. Joan Garry, Mrs. Martinson, Mrs. John Schneider and Miss Janice Todt.
The next meeting will be held at the Bethpage Restoration Village on October 17, 1:30 p.m. Car pools are being arranged.
