At the Library... •A representative of the Lupus Alliance of America will be at the Library to educate patrons about this chronic autoimmune disease, tonight, Wednesday, October 3, 7 to 8 p.m. This program will create a greater awareness about Lupus and help patrons self-screen for some common symptoms of this highly unpredictable and potentially life-threatening disease.
•The Suffolk County Department of Health is offering this seven-week program to help you quit smoking, Thursdays, October 4, 11, 18 and 25 and November 1 and 8, 6 to 7 p.m. A health educator and nurse practitioner will be at the library to conduct these classes. Free nicotine replacement products, such as gum and inhalers will be available to participants. Medical approval from a primary care provider is required. A reunion of the class will take place on Thursday, November 29. •The Amityville Public Library's children's department will be holding in-person registration for all its fall/winter children's programs as of Monday, October 1, 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. No phone registration will be accepted for the first week and programs are limited to only Amityville Public Library patrons.
