Virginia Sharp: beloved Mother of Nine

Amityville resident Virginia M. Sharp, who dedicated her life to caring for her husband and children, died September 2, 2007 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Brookhaven. She was 75 years old and was a

mother of nine.

She was born January 10, 1932 in Norfolk, Virginia and raised her family in Brooklyn, South Carolina and ultimately Amityville where she lived for more than 25 years. Besides spending time with her large brood, she loved to play Bingo.

Mrs. Sharp leaves behind her children: Oscar F., Jr., Brenda Whitten, Kenneth, Catherine Williams, Maxine Sewell, Sharon, Sylvia, Raymond and Wanda Mills; many grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 45 years, Oscar F. in February 1989.

The Rev. Thomas Tolliver, pastor, In the Word Ministries, officiated at the Funeral Service at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on September 8, 2007. A private cremation followed.
