Joseph Corrigan: Former Amityville Postal Carrier

Joseph Corrigan, who delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service in Amityville for 30 years during the 1970s, '80s and '90s, died July 29, 2007 in Port Orange, Florida. He was 75 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, he was a decorated U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. In 1956 he moved to Earl Place in Amity Harbor and lived there for more than 30 years before retiring to Florida in 1987.

According to his daughter, Linda, he loved baseball and spending time with his grandchildren. While living in Amity Harbor, he was a member of the Amity Club and of the Copiague Fire Department.

Mr. Corrigan leaves behind his wife of more than 50 years years, Mary of Port Orange, Florida; his children: Susan Crowley of Port Orange, Florida, Linda DeMarco of Amityville and Richard of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His grandchildren, Christopher Crowley and Kellyanne Crowley of Florida, Allison Herzog, Daniel DeMarco and Amy DeMarco of Amityville, and David Corrigan, Meghan Corrigan and Erik Corrigan of Babylon also survive him.

A private cremation was held with a religious service at Our Lady of Hope R.C. Church in Port Orange, Florida.
