Edmund W. Miles school appoints Deborah Charles as assistant principal

The Amityville Union Free School District is announced that Deborah Charles, shown in the photo, district science coordinator for the past three years, and alternative high school principal for the 2006-2007 school year, has accepted a new appointment as assistant principal of Edmund W. Miles Middle School. Charles is a biochemist finds that interacting with students in a school environment is something that comes naturally to her.

Charles holds two undergraduate degrees - a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from York College, and a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance from St. John's University. In addition, she received a master's degree in education from Fordham University, and a professional

diploma in learning styles from St. John's Univ e r s i t y . Charles obtained her latest degree from SUNY

Stony Brook,

where she earned her graduate administrative certificate. In addition to serving the students of Edmund W. Miles Middle School, she will continue as principal of the Alternative High School.
