Donald Ramsteck: Army Veteran formerly of Amityville Proud, decorated World War II Army veteran and former Amityville resident Donald J. Ramsteck of Sayville died August 28, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 88 years old. Born December 2, 1918 in the Bronx to Edward C. and Ethel (Menger), he served in the European theater during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, the World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Star, the American Campaign Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with Bronze Arrowhead. Until his retirement, he worked as a stockbroker for Henry Krieger of New York. According to his family, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. Mr. Ramsteck leaves behind his children: Donald J. Jr. and his wife Susan of Centerport, Justin X. and his wife Mary Ann of Wilton, Connecticut, Michol Todaro and her husband Joseph of Manorville, J. Joshua and his fiancee Laurie of Orlando, Florida, Matthew G. of Amityville, Jonathan and his wife Tammi of Honolulu, Hawaii and his son-in-law Frank Genova; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Irene C. in may 2001 and his daughter, Deborah Genova. He reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on August 31, 2007. A Prayer Service was held on September 1, 2007 at the funeral home followed by interment in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, with Military Honors.
