Constitution Day to be held a Farmingdale State College On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Grand Convention at Philadelphia met for the last time to sign the document they had created. That document became the US Constitution. As part of the nationwide effort celebrating the birth of our government, Farmingdale State College will be hosting its annual "Constitution Day" on Tuesday, September 18 in Little Theatre from 11 a.m. to noon. The topic will be The US Constitution in the 21st Century. The panelists who have committed to the event are: •Lauren Montes, Office of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton •Matt Cohen, Office of Senator Charles E. Schumer •Dr. Robert A. Saunders, Assistant Professor, department of history, economics and politics, Farmingdale State College
The representatives of New York State's two senators will speak about how the Constitution influences the day-to-day activities of the Congress, while Professor Saunders will speak about the historical and contemporary challenges to the Constitution and how this amazing document has weathered time and political upheaval.
