DEC Commisioner meets to discuss fishing on L.I.

At the invitation of Assemblyman Bob Sweeney, New York State Department of Environmental conservation Commissioner Pete Grannis met with representatives of the recreational fishing community at the Sportfishing Education Center in the Town of Babylon, to discuss issues of significance for recreational fishing on Long Island. It is the first time in memory that a DEC commissioner has met with the recreational fishing community.

Shown with Assemblyman Sweeney, at left, and Commissioner Grannis, second from left, are DEC Regional Director Peter Scully and several interns from Cornell Cooperative Extension who work at the Sportfishing Center.
